OrthoPlay MIDI Music Mechanical Keyboard
A compact lightweight 5 × 12 grid
Every keycap is colored like a piano: white keycaps are the notes of the C major scale, and black keycaps are the sharps and flats. No note names to memorize, the scale is laid out for you.
It’s a mechanical keyboard, too
OrthoPlay isn’t only a MIDI controller - it’s a full mechanical keyboard as well. The same 5 × 12 grid types as a compact ortholinear QWERTY layout, so you can write and produce on one board.
- Press TO(M) to switch to the music layer.
- Press TO(K) to switch back to the keyboard layer.
How it’s laid out
- 5 rows × 12 pads - one chromatic octave across each row.
- Each pad to the right is one semitone higher.
- Rows are tuned a perfect fourth apart, like the strings of a bass: the bottom row starts on E, then A, D, G above it.
- Move up two rows and right two pads to land an octave higher.
